Get Over Your Damn Self

I am, and always have been, a very avid reader. I’ve always been able to escape into a book, see myself as the heroine, and truly find joy getting lost in the words. In the last few years as I am learning the world of entrepreneurship, I learned that the old icky feeling people put on “self-help” books is a bunch of garbage. In fact, personal development is much needed if you want to be successful in business or even just enjoy your life more.

I have read a TON of books, especially in the last few years, about personal development and network marketing. Right now I am completely lost in Get Over Your Damn Self by Romi Neustadt. At first I was just really drawn to the title of the book. I mean, really. Failures that we have generally start before we get started because they start in our heads, amiright? Of course I’m right! Then I did discover that Romi is actually a part of the same company I am, and I can’t be positive but I believe we are on the same team. She does training just for us, and I have to say it’s pretty freaking cool getting training from a best-selling author (although I didn’t realize it was the same Romi for months into this business).

Romi literally breaks every step down for you as a Network Marketer on what to do and say, and when. She doesn’t flower anything up, it’s completely no BS (she even advertises it as “The No B.S. Blueprint to Building a Life-Changing Business.”) As a matter of fact, I have had to stop reading in the middle of the book so I can go back and make sure I take proper notes and get some practicing down before finishing the book. I really want to finish reading and go back, but just reading the book I feel like Romi would yell at me, “Put the damn book down and go take ACTION!” So that’s what I have done. This book can easily be read in a day or two, but if you really want to take advantage of the gold nuggets inside you need to sit down with a pen and paper and write notes and PRACTICE as you go.
